The Opportunity

As one of the largest independent testing companies in Western Canada, Metro Testing & Engineering is looking hiring a Lead Testing Technician for the Air Tightness Testing Department. The person will have experience in coordinating and running the test at large building that requires multiple blowers and fans.
This is a full time permanent position and will be based out of Metro's Burnaby office.

We are the largest material testing company in Western Canada with 13 offices and 240 employees. Everyday since 1987, our technicians are busy at our labs and on the road conducting testing of concrete, soil, and asphalt for our customers in the construction industry. We completed over 300,000 projects and many of them are high profile and long-term projects. None of these projects will be possible without the contributions from our dedicated team of engineers, geoscientists, technicians, technologists, and supporting staff.

What you will be doing:

  • Travelling to site for Air Tightness and Window Envelop Testing
  • Reviewing drawings and specifications
  • understand envelope areas and perform # of fan calculations
  • preparing test plan
  • assist or direct contractors for building preparation (what to and what not to seal prior to testing
  • familiar with Retrotec equipment and software
  • trouble shoot on site when equipment conflict each other
  • perform successful test to standard to data analysis & reporting
  • Liaising with clients and site personnel
  • Troubleshooting real time compliance issues in the field and monitoring non-compliance protocols

What you will need to have

  • Experience in Air Tightness Testing
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to lift and control weights up to 23 kilos / 50 lbs.
  • Ability to learn customized computer programs
  • Flexible with work hours - this is not a 9 to 5 job!
  • Experience or willingness to work outdoor
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in writing reports
